PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — An Attleboro teenager died late Thursday night after he was seriously injured in a single-car crash in Mansfield.
Christopher Hutcheon, 19, was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital at about 11 p.m., according to Massachusetts State Police.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 11, a 2000 Toyota Camry spun around several times on Route 495 before leaving the roadway and striking a tree. Emergency crews arrived on scene to find the impact had severed the vehicle in half between the engine and the passenger compartment, and left one passenger trapped inside.
Police said all four passengers were wearing seatbelts and were not ejected from the car.
The driver and two passengers were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The driver, a 19-year-old girl from Seekonk, and Hutcheon’s twin brother were treated for minor injuries.
The last passenger, another Attleboro teen, was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, also with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police said no charges have been filed at this time.
