PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man was indicted by a grand jury Friday in the city’s tenth homicide of the year.
Justice Andrade, 21, is accused of shooting 20-year-old Ty-shon Perry to death on River Avenue back on July 19. Providence police believe the people Perry was with that night may have been the intended targets.
According to police, the victim was visiting a cousin when Andrade walked up and fired a shot. Perry, who has a 1-year-old son, was able to get back inside his cousin’s home but later died at the hospital.
Andrade turned himself in to police three days later and was ordered held without bail.
The indictment charged Andrade with murder, discharge of a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence – death resulting, and possession of a firearm without a license.
Andrade is due back in court for his arraignment Oct. 22.
