NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) – The body of a fisherman who went missing earlier this month has been located, officials said Saturday, and family plans to hold a memorial service on Sunday.
Adam Perry Sr., 51, of Lincoln was one of three fisherman whose boat sank off Sakonnet Point in Little Compton on October 2nd. The other two men were rescued by local firefighters and the Coast Guard, but Perry could not be located.
Volunteers searched the area for him several times after officials suspended their searches and were able to find one of Perry’s sneakers at Horseneck Beach in Westport last weekend.
Late Friday, Little Compton Fire Chief Richard Petrin told Eyewitness News that a body was located on Seaspray Way in Little Compton Friday afternoon; the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management confirmed Saturday afternoon that the body had been positively identified as Perry.
sunday, friends and family will hold a celebration of Perry’s life and a fundraiser at the Fisherman’s Memorial on Point Judith Road in Narragansett. The event will start at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m., and will include a memorial service and a lobster dinner.
