PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Democratic governor candidate Gina Raimondo has announced that Hillary Rodham Clinton will campaign with Raimondo next week.
Raimondo, Rhode Island’s general treasurer, said Friday night she is “thrilled” that Clinton will join her Oct. 24 to talk about the state’s economy. She said Clinton is a long-time champion for middle class families and Rhode Island is in a jobs crisis. Raimondo has focused her campaign on improving the economy. Rhode Island has had one of the country’s highest unemployment rates for years.
The event will be held at the Rhode Island College Recreation Center. The campaign said free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Raimondo is running against Republican Allan Fung and Moderate Party candidate Robert Healey.
Clinton is also campaigning Oct. 24 in Boston for Massachusetts Democratic governor candidate Martha Coakley.
