Pedestrian killed in Seekonk identified as Dorchester man

SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — Seekonk police have identified the pedestrian that was killed in the town last week as Steven Nixon of Dorchester.

Nixon, 35, was walking on Mink Street at about 9:30 p.m. Friday when he was struck by a car traveling northbound, police said. Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate him on scene before transporting him to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

No charges are pending against the driver, a 25-year-old man from East Providence, according to police.

Police said the area where the crash occurred is poorly lit, and there are no sidewalks.

The accident remains under investigation by Seekonk police and Massachusetts State Police.
