PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man indicted last week in connection with the city’s tenth homicide of the year pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday.
Justice Andrade, 21, is charged in the shooting death of Ty-shon Perry, 20, on River Avenue back on July 19. Providence police believe the people Perry was with that night may have been the intended targets.
Andrade was ordered held without bail after he was arraigned at Providence Superior Court on charges of murder; discharging a firearm while in commission of a crime of violence, death resulting; and possession of a firearm without a license.
According to police, the victim was visiting a cousin when Andrade walked up and fired a shot. Perry, who has a 1-year-old son, was able to get back inside his cousin’s home but later died at the hospital.
Andrade turned himself in to police three days later and has been in police custody since.
