PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting in Providence late Wednesday morning, Police Chief Col. Hugh Clements confirms.
The shooting took place just before noon in the area of Fillmore Street.
The victim, identified by Clements as 22-year-old Terry Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The chief said Robinson was also the victim of a recent shooting outside Fete Music, in which he survived a gunshot wound to his side.
The victim’s mother said he was a loving son, brother and parent. He’s the father of a 2-year-old boy and has a baby girl due in the near future.
Clements said the surviving victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
The scene remains active as police continue to investigate. Police believe the shooting may have been gang-related, but so far no word on any suspects.
