Store worker shot in arm during attempted robbery

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A convenience store worker was shot during an attempted robbery in Providence late Tuesday night.

According to police, the employee was closing the store at the corner of Public Street and Gordon Avenue just before 10 p.m. when he was shot by a man in a black hoodie with a silver handgun.

About an hour later, police spoke with an employee of a second convenience store, who said a man with a silver revolver pointed a gun at him as well. That store is located at the corner of Broad Street and Marlborough Avenue, about two blocks away from where the first incident occurred.

Police did not identify the victim of the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at (401) 272-3121.
