Two men arrested in connection to string of car thefts

WESTPORT (WPRI) – Two men are arrested in connection with a string of car thefts.

On Friday, Police arrested 22 year olds Evan Jackson and Matthew Medeiros-Horzesky, both of Dartmouth. The pair is accused of carrying out more than 20 break-ins of unlocked cars in October.

A Little Compton Police Sergeant pulled the car over after a Westport Police Officer reported that Jackson’s 2008 Kia sedan had been spotted days earlier in the Meadowbrook Lane area. That area had been the site of numerous unlocked car break-ins recently. Police say they found a wide variety of items in the suspects’ vehicle, including chainsaws, a leaf blower and an iPod shuffle.

Police believe most of the items are stolen; they are now working to return the property to its rightful owners. Authorities are asking anyone who had their vehicle broken into in the past month to contact police.

Police have already recovered some stolen items from these alleged break-ins at two pawn shops in New Bedford.
