WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) – Officials broke ground on a new fire station in Warwick Wednesday morning.
The new, two-bay fire station in the Potowomut section of the city, will include a community meeting room and a police substation.
Mayor Scott Avedisian was joined Wednesday by Fire Chief Edmund Armstrong and Glenn Ahlborg, director of project development for Ahlborg Construction Corp.
Construction on the $2.5 million project is expected to begin within the next two weeks.
The fire station is scheduled to be operational in the fall of 2015.
