CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with an attack that took a city man’s life last week.
According to police, Michael Taylor, 53, told officers he was attacked by his roommate last Wednesday evening. Hours later, Taylor was transported to the hospital and went into emergency surgery for injuries he had sustained in the assault.
On October 28, Taylor died as a result of his injuries.
Police identified the suspect as Jamon Brown, 18, and took him into custody after police said he confessed to the attack. Brown told police the assault stemmed from an argument over missing items from their apartment.
Central Falls resident David Harmon said Taylor was “good to the whole community. He did what he could for anybody.”
“He was a nice guy. He seemed to kind of keep to himself a lot,” added Jacob Parsici. “I didn’t know him to bother anyone, you know?”
The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday morning and was ordered held without bail.
