WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Officials in Woonsocket broke ground Wednesday on a new consolidated dispatch center.
The facility is located at the police headquarters on Clinton Street where communication centers for police and fire departments will be combined.
By merging the dispatch agencies, the city expects to save close to $500 million a year.
Interviews are scheduled to begin Thursday for new employees.
The new dispatch center is expected to go live by Spring 2015.
