PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A veteran ACI employee accused of embezzling from the state’s prisons department has retired.
Security specialist Gerald Masso is accused of using a department line of credit to buy more than $4,000 worth of ammunition for his own personal use.
Masso, of North Providence, retired effective Friday after 18 years with the Department of Corrections.
Police began investigating Masso in March at the request of the director, and in July charged him with two counts of fraudulent conversion.
He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
