Road-rage incident leads to drug arrest

BOURNE, Mass. (WPRI) – Police responding to a road-rage incident Friday discovered a marijuana grow operation.

According to Bourne police, several people called 911 shortly before 1 p.m. Friday reporting a fight in the area of State Road and the on ramp to Route 3, in which a gun was shown.

Two vehicles had stopped in the road in what police termed a
“road rage incident,” and the drivers had gotten into a fight. One of them allegedly smashed the other’s windshield with a rake and then pointed a handgun at him.

Police arrested 33 year-old Michael Barboza of Bourne and searched for the gun; the incident occurred right in front of his home, and while searching his home for the weapon, officers discovered a marijuana grow operation inside. The gun was also recovered.

Barboza is facing several charges including assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property and “possession/cultivation/distribution of marijuana.”
