ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Attleboro High School officials say a “hit list” was discovered just before Thursday’s Thanksgiving football game against North Attleboro High School.
The list was found hanging in the Attleboro High School locker room. The list contained the names of North Attleboro High School’s football team members and cheerleaders.
Attleboro High School Principal issued a statement apologizing for the list. According to the principal, the list was created by Attleboro High School’s cheerleaders.
“Yes, that sign was made by our cheerleaders and was contained to our home locker room this morning,” said Attleboro High School Principal Bill Runey. “It was taken down by an assistant football coach upon entry to our locker room.
“It is poor judgment that detracts from an otherwise very healthy rivalry. We have apologized to North Attleboro High School.”
No complaints have been reported to police. School officials have not said if the cheerleaders will receive disciplinary punishment.
