NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A Narragansett man has died from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash on Route 1 south Thursday night.
Jeffrey Golding, 41, of Narragansett, died Friday morning at Rhode Island Hospital, according to The Providence Journal.
The three-vehicle crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on Thanksgiving night in the southbound lane of Route 1, just north of Walmsley Lane.
A vehicle, traveling southbound in the left lane of Route 1, crossed over into the right lane of travel and sideswiped another vehicle, said Capt. William Jamieson of the Rhode Island State Police.
The vehicle then veered left across the center median into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by another vehicle traveling north. The first vehicle continued onto the right shoulder of the northbound lanes, where it rolled over and ejected the driver.
The driver, Golding, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Golding was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
A man and woman in the second vehicle were uninjured. Three occupants in the third vehicle – two adults and a 6-month-old child – sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the roads were wet at the time of the crash, but not icy or snow-covered.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
