WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Warwick police are investigating following a single-car crash early Saturday morning.
According to police, the car was traveling on East Avenue when it missed a curve in the road, crossed the center line and struck a telephone poll.
The driver and one passenger were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. The pair was last listed in serious condition.
The unidentified driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving on a suspended license. Police say the driver may face additional charges after the investigation is concluded.
