PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI/AP) — Five companies that Gov. Lincoln Chafee met with while in Europe in April are looking to establish operations in Rhode Island.
Chafee, Gov.-elect Gina Raimondo and members of the congressional delegation announced the plans Thursday.
“It’s great to be part of the welcome wagon here, we have the red carpet here and we will help you in any way we can to grow businesses here in Rhode Island,” Chafee said Thursday. “I know the governor-elect is going to add to these flags – and I know we’ll have more international flags coming here to Rhode Island.”
Three of the five companies are headquartered in Italy. The global supply chain specialist Euranet plans to open a Rhode Island office. The Italian restaurant franchise Galivm says it intends to open its first North American restaurant in Rhode Island. The design consulting firm Reios plans to establish a Rhode Island manufacturing facility.
The Irish furniture maker Monaghan Brothers says it plans to set up a showroom and marketing office. The English encryption technology company Score also plans to set up a Rhode Island office.
Chafee went to Italy and Ireland for economic development meetings.
