Man indicted on murder charge in Providence’s 7th homicide

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man has been indicted on one count of murder in connection to a deadly stabbing in June.

A Grand Jury has charged Leon Taylor with killing 32-year-old David Simmons on Dartmouth Avenue in Providence earlier this year. According to police, he turned himself in to police five days after he was identified as a suspect in the killing.

Eyewitness News has learned that Taylor was previously arrested in May at District Court for a brawl that spilled into the hallway during an unrelated murder arraignment.  He’s facing a disorderly conduct charge for that incident.

Taylor is scheduled to be arraigned in superior court next month.
