Man pleads not guilty to charge of manslaughter

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Woonsocket man was arraigned in court on Wednesday after being connected to the death of his roommate, who police say was beaten outside a city bar.

Alan Klemanchuck pleaded not guilty to the charge of one count of manslaughter.

Klemanchuck, 58, of East School Road, is accused of attacking Robert Gordon outside Charley’s Bar back in April. Gordon died at Rhode Island Hospital two days later, and his cause of death was determined to be blunt impact trauma to the head.

Police initially charged Klemanchuck with domestic assault, and he was released on bail.

Klemanchuck’s bail has been set at $20,000. He is due back in court in March.
