State Police arrest S. Kingstown man on child porn charges

SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) – Rhode Island State Police have arrested a South Kingstown man on child porn charges.

59-year-old John Meiczinger was taken into custody today and charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Transfer of Child Pornography.

The Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force recently initiated an investigation of an individual trading images and videos of child pornography on the Internet.

The Internet connection at Meiczinger’s home was identified as allegedly sharing the images and videos of child pornography.

This morning, ICAC Task Force members executed a court-authorized search warrant at the South Kingstown residence and identified child pornography on digital media within the residence.

Meiczinger was identified as the alleged owner of the digital media, which contained images and videos of child pornography.

He’ll be arraigned later today in District Court.

At this time, there are no indications of inappropriate conduct between Meiczinger and minor children.

A person found guilty of Possession of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. Someone found guilty of Transfer of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, or imprisoned not more than fifteen years, or both.
