CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) – Fire officials are investigating an early morning fire at a duplex.

The Cumberland Fire Department says flames broke out just after 4 a.m. on Sunday at a home on Boyle Avenue. Firefighters managed to get the flames under control in less than 20 minutes.

Officials say the fire started and was contained to the bedroom, but other parts of the home did suffer heat and smoke damage. The connecting home was not damaged.

Four family members are left displaced temporarily and are being assisted by the Red Cross. No injuries were reported.

The Rhode Island Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
