WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) – A Dartmouth man is facing several charges after he allegedly stabbed a man outside a Westport bar, then fought with police officers.

Westport police said that the staff at Joe’s Cafe & Lounge on American Legion Highway contacted them around closing time Sunday morning to report that a disorderly man had arrived. Staff said they asked the man to leave twice, at which point he allegedly stabbed and deflated the tire of a vehicle parked outside.

Several employees approached the man to try to get him to leave, but the man then stabbed another person, resulting in injuries to the victim’s face and neck. The victim was eventually treated at the scene by the Westport Fire Department.

Police arrived and arrested the suspect, identified as 26 year-old Jesse Morrow of Dartmouth. Morrow allegedly tried to kick one of the arresting officers, and during the booking process at the police station, officers had to use a Taser to subdue him.

Morrow is being charged with assault with intent to kill, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest.

He’ll be arraigned tomorrow morning in Fall River District Court.
