Cranston police seek car involved in apparent homicide

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The death of a man, found in a Cranston apartment complex Tuesday, is now being investigated as an apparent homicide.

Cranston police have identified the victim as John Fiore, 55, who was the sole tenant of the apartment.  According to police, Fiore had visible injuries, including apparent stab wounds.

Investigators say the victim’s vehicle, a 2009 silver Chevrolet Impala, was taken from the scene.

They are now looking for that car, which has a Rhode Island license plate of F-665. Police ask anyone who sees that car to not approach it, but dial 9-1-1 instead.

Multiple officers, cruisers, and a crime scene investigation truck were seen outside of the Terrace Apartments on Farmington Avenue early Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the victim was found just before noon by his sister, after his family had not heard from him for a few days.

“I’ve never really seen this in my life before. This is just shocking to me,” said neighbor Eric Dean. “I’ve been living here for three months, everything was going great – no trouble, no loud music, no yelling, nothing. This is just surprising to me.”

The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, along with the state medical examiner are helping with the investigation.

Police have not released any information on possible suspects.
