PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Gov.-elect Gina Raimondo says she’s appointing a health care policy expert who worked to control health care costs in Vermont and Massachusetts to oversee Rhode Island’s health insurance exchange.
Raimondo announced the appointment Tuesday of Anya Rader Wallack as director of HealthSource RI.
Wallack is the chairwoman of the Vermont Health Care Innovation Project, which is using federal funds to improve care and reduce costs in Vermont. She previously worked on health care reform in Vermont as chairwoman of a regulatory agency, and in Massachusetts as a member of a council that set quality and cost targets.
Wallack has a health policy consulting firm in Massachusetts and lives in Little Compton.
Rhode Island has to find a way to pay for the exchange when federal funding runs out.
