Chili mix products recalled for unlisted peanut allergen

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A food manufacturer is recalling chili mix products because they may be contaminated with peanut allergens.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, Jardine Foods, Inc. voluntarily issued the recall after it was discovered that a spice purchased from a single supplier contained a peanut protein not listed among the ingredients.

People with an allergy or a severe sensitivity to peanuts could have a serous or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product. The recall includes:

Consumers who purchased the recalled products should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide in retail stores and online.

No illnesses have been reported in connection to the products, health officials said.
