FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A person of interest in the slaying of a man on New Year’s Day in Fall River has now been charged with murder in the case.
Jeffrey Souza will be arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder Tuesday in the shooting death of 28-year-old Kyle Brady, officials announced Monday afternoon.
Souza, 24, is already in custody on firearms charges connected to the homicide.
Brady was shot in the early-morning hours of January 1 near the intersection of Albert and Huard Streets and pronounced dead at the scene.
Souza was arrested in Newport Saturday on the firearms charges, along with a fugitive from justice charge.
“I compliment the Fall River Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, prosecutors from my office and the Newport Police Department for their coordinated efforts in apprehending the suspect within hours of the homicide taking place,” said District Attorney Thomas Quinn in a statement. “ I look forward to continuing to work closely with law enforcement throughout Bristol County to continue to protect the public and bring justice to victims.”
