Suspect arrested in armed Cumberland Farms robbery

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — New Bedford police have arrested a suspect after a convenience store was robbed at knifepoint.

Police said the armed robbery occurred at the Cumberland Farms on 810 Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The suspect entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the scene.

He was seen jumping over fences, and was taken into custody a short time later.

Kevin Murray, 39, from Bridgewater, Maine, is facing a charge of armed robbery.

The money was recovered and returned to the store.

The victim was unharmed.

Murray is scheduled to be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Monday.
