PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A man with a gun walked into a bar expecting to rob it, but was forced to flee empty-handed.
Major David Lapatin of the Providence Police Department told Eyewitness News that the man, who has not yet been identified, walked into the Union Avenue Pub at about 10:30 Saturday night.
The man showed the gun and demanded money, but several bar patrons rushed him and disarmed him. They attempted to hold him until police arrived, but he allegedly bit one of them and managed to escape.
Lapatin said the weapon was left at the bar, and turned out to be a BB gun.
