PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The Indianapolis Colts arrived in Providence Saturday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s AFC Championship game.
The team arrived at the Omni Hotel in downtown Providence, led by Rhode Island State Troopers. The Colts are staying the night at the hotel before heading up to Gillette Stadium. It’s a 25 mile bus trip from Providence to Foxboro.
Julie and Jill Geyman, a mother and daughter on vacation from Detroit, just happened to be at the hotel when the Colts arrived. They say they saw all of the TV camera crews lining up outside, so they came up to watch.
“We had just heard a rumor earlier today, so we just happened to walk out here at the time the buses were coming by,” Julie said.
This team’s arrival was a little different than how it’s been done before: players got off the bus behind the hotel, hidden from Eyewitness News cameras.
The Baltimore Ravens also stayed at the Omni Hotel last week before losing to the Patriots. Patriots fans are looking for a similar outcome tomorrow.
