NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WPRI) – Police have made an arrest in connection with Thursday afternoon’s homicide in New Bedford.

A spokesman for Bristol County District Attorney Tom Quinn reported that police arrested 36 year-old Jason Valliere of New Bedford Friday night after he turned himself in at the New Bedford Police Department.

Investigators had obtained a warrant for his arrest shortly after the homicide of 36 year-old Javon Brown.

Brown was shot at the MetroPCS cellular phone store on Coggeshall Street at about 12:30 Thursday afternoon; he was pronounced dead at the hospital about 45 minutes later.

Valliere is being charged with accessory to murder after the fact and will be arraigned Monday morning in New Bedford District Court.
