FOXBORO, M.A. (WPRI) – The trophy won by the Patriots in the AFC Championship is on display for Patriots fans to see.
It’s been an odd week at Gillette Stadium; from winning the AFC Championship to press conferences on “Deflate-gate” the nation’s eyes have been on the Patriots.
On Saturday, the Patriots let fans have their eyes on the Lamar Hunt trophy. While Bill Belichick has confirmed the Patriots aren’t polishing fine China, you can bet they’re shining their new trophy.
Most of the conversation since the Patriots win has been on deflated footballs, some forgot about the football trophy they earned. Fans had the chance to snap some pictures in front of the Lamar Hunt trophy at the Pats Hall of Fame at Gillette Stadium.
Mason Maddox, a Patriots fan says, “It’s great, man. I’ve never seen one in real life so it’s a great moment to realize it and see it in person.”
Luke France, another fan agrees, “It’s cool to see something that Bill Belichick and Tom Brady actually held and it’s something I can show my kids someday.”
For Patriots season ticket holder Tim Comeaux, it’s the first time his sone Orson has had the chance to see a Patriot’s trophy. “He’s almost two so he hasn’t seen a Super Bowl for the Pats yet. “
The Lamar Hunt trophy is named after one of the key founders of the American Football League. It now joins the other hardware that Patriots have earned since Brady has been quarterback, which is five other AFC titles and three Super Bowl trophies.
The trophy will also be on display Sunday 10a.m-7p.m and Monday 10a.m-5p.m.
