Hospitals cancel non-emergency procedures due to storm

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — As a major nor’easter bears down on Southern New England, all non-emergency procedures have been canceled at Lifespan’s hospitals Tuesday.

To ensure the safety of both staff and patients, there will be no outpatient procedures, clinic appointments or elective surgeries at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Miriam Hospital, Newport Hospital and Bradley Hospital.

All of the hospitals’ emergency departments will continue to provide care to all critically ill and injured patients.

If you had an appointment of any kind scheduled for Tuesday, you will be contacted to reschedule.

The Providence VA Medical Center will also be open for emergency procedures and services, but all appointments for Tuesday and Wednesday must also be rescheduled. The VA Community-based outpatient clinics located in Middletown, New Bedford and Hyannis will be closed on Tuesday.
