FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Michael Kostek, 63, of Somerset, accused of killing his mother last August, faced a judge Thursday afternoon.

A grand jury indicted Kostek last week. He was arraigned on multiple charges – including second-degree murder – and ordered held without bail.

Kostek has been held on more than $1 million bail since August, when he was arrested.

Police say he caused the death of his mother, Sophie Kostek, 88, after striking her in the face with a closed fist. The two had been arguing about money, police said.
