NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in New Bedford took an alleged fugitive from justice into custody Wednesday who they say has been wanted for a double murder that happened seven years ago.
Luis Carrasquillo-Lizardi, 36, had been at an apartment on Brock Avenue in the city’s South End. City police detectives, in association with Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and U.S. Marshals arrested him Wednesday morning without incident, according to Capt. Steven Vicente.
When officers arrested him, he admitted to his true identity, police said. He had a Massachusetts drivers license, bearing the alias “Jorge Soto,” which Registry of Motor Vehicles records showed he obtained in 2009.
Carrasquillo-Lizardi was scheduled to be arraigned at New Bedford District Court Wednesday afternoon as a fugitive from justice.
A wanted poster from Puerto Rico from 2008 said Carrasquillo-Lizardi, who had the nickname “Lulo,” was presumed armed and dangerous.
