Police arrest two in Westport break-in

WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in Westport arrested two people on Saturday, after they broke into a home Friday afternoon.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. officers responded to Cross Road, where a female homeowner said that she returned home and saw a Jeep parked in her driveway.

The homeowner told police that a female driver was in the Jeep and the engine was running. The woman told the homeowner that she was looking for her friend and that she may have the wrong house.

Moments later the house alarm went off, prompting the driver to take off. The homeowner told police that a hooded suspect ran from behind her home and chased after the Jeep.

The hooded suspect reportedly got into the Jeep up the road from the home. Police say that the suspects did not get away with anything.

Investigators obtained a possible RMV photo of the driver, who was identified by the homeowner. The female suspect was identified as 30-year-old Amanda Wamboldt of Fisher Road. Her family identified another possible suspect named Eric Burns, age 31,  of Velvet Avenue.

Officers arrested the pair at Burns’ residence.

Wamboldt was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, conspiracy to commit a crime, and use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony.

Burns was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, conspiracy, and malicious damage to a property more than $250.
