NASHUA, N.H. (WPRI) – The men’s basketball team posted a commanding 101-59 victory against Rivier in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference at the Muldoon Center on Tuesday evening.
Johnson & Wales was led by junior Tom Garrick (Seekonk, Mass.) with a game-high 39 points, three rebounds and three assists while fellow junior Quarry Greenaway (Westchester, N.Y.) had 16 points with six boards for the Wildcats. Junior Robert Lewis (Providence, R.I.) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points and six assists in the victory for JWU.
Andre Ruff paced Rivier with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists while Kevin Francis was also in double-figures with 13 points in the loss for the Raiders.
JWU had control of the game in the early stages and took their first double-digit lead when a three-pointer by Garrick made the score 26-10 with just under nine minutes left in the first half. The Wildcats continued to have control of the contest and built on their lead throughout the first half before taking the 51-28 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
JWU’s first 30-point advantage came as a pair of free throws by Garrick put the squad up 69-39 with 14:01 left in the contest. The Wildcats led by as many as 47 points late in the second half before posting an impressive 101-59 victory.
With the victory JWU moves to 19-5 overall with a 14-3 record in the GNAC while Rivier falls to 4-20 overall and 3-14 in league play. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, February 21st when they travel to St. Joseph’s of Maine for a GNAC contest at 3:00 p.m.
