FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A third housekeeper, Carla Barbosa, took the stand in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial on Tuesday.
She said that she witnessed Hernandez’s fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, carrying a big, black trash bag the day after Lloyd’s murder. Her testimony was heard through a Portuguese translator.
Prosecutors believe that Jenkins destroyed evidence and then lied to the police about it.
During testimony, video surveillance Jenkins struggling to carry a black trash bag out of the home was shown, and according to Barbosa, she “had her arms around it” and “held [it] close to her.”
When asked by the defense if the bag could have simply been trash, Barbosa said yes.
Jenkins has been granted immunity in the case and could be forced to testify or serve jail time.
Two other housekeepers, Marilia Prinholato and Grazielli Andrade Silva, both said they saw two different guns in Hernandez’s home while cleaning.
An athletic trainer also testified before the jury on Tuesday. Hernandez was supposed to start training with Brian McDonough the day Odin Lloyd was killed, but McDonough said that Hernandez skipped the appointment — scheduled for June 17, 2013.
The trainer also testified that he canceled a second appointment on June 18 as well.
The text message from Hernandez to McDonough said that “something serious came up.”
