Investigation of potential wrongdoing underway at Westerly Town Hall

WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island State Police have launched an investigation into potential wrongdoing at Westerly Town Hall.

Westerly Police Chief Edward Saint Clair told Eyewitness News that he reached out to the state police superintendent at the request of the town manager.

Saint Clair reportedly picked up a sealed packet at town hall and gave it to a state trooper.

The Town Council president told Eyewitness News that the investigation involves allegations of blackmail.
