Guns, drugs & cash seized in New Bedford raid

New Bedford, Mass. (WPRI) – Two New Bedford men were arrested and charged after police seized drugs, guns and thousands of dollars from a storage unit in the city.

On Friday evening, members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau searched a unit in the Wamsutta Mills.

During the search, police found approximately 13 ounces of heroin, 24 growing marijuana plants, three handguns, drug paraphernalia and $8,657 in cash. Police said the heroin alone had a street value of more than $36,000.

Police arrested Kevin Cardoso, 31 and Christopher Medeiros, 27, both of New Bedford.

Both suspects were scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning in New Bedford District Court on firearms and drug trafficking charges.
