WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A Warwick man is now facing felony charges after he took off from a serious collision Wednesday night involving his vehicle and two others.
According to Warwick Police, a silver Ford F150 pickup was going westbound on West Shore Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. when it rear-ended a Kia Soul near Groveland Avenue, sending the Kia into a Hyundai driving the opposite way.
Rescue crews rushed the drivers of the Hyundai and Kia, along with a passenger in the Kia, to Rhode Island Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Later, at Kent County Hospital, officers found John Rigney, 37, being treated at the emergency room after just having been in a crash.
Police have charged Rigney with duty to stop in an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, as well as various other motor vehicle offenses.
Rigney’s pickup was located at the Kent Center on Health Lane, and police said damage to the truck matched physical evidence left at the scene.
Police are continuing to investigate, and more charges may be pending. If you have any information related to the collision, you’re asked to call Warwick Police at (401) 468-4343.
