PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The annual Hasbro Children’s Hospital Scrabble Ball was held Saturday night to benefit children battling life-threatening illnesses.
More than a thousand people were in attendance at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The goal was to raise more than $1 million to provide healthcare for children who need it most.
“So much of what we do is not covered by insurance, so we need the generosity of the people who are here tonight to reach into their pocketbooks to write a check, to give some money to take care of kids who otherwise may not be able to receive care. It’s really important,” said Dr. Tim Babineau.
Proceeds from the event will benefit patient care, research, and education at the hospital.
