JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore Robert Henry and junior Noah Shulman recorded three hits apiece, but the Brown baseball team fell to North Florida, 16-6, to wrap up the four-game series Sunday at Harmon Stadium.
Brown (1-9) had 12 hits in the loss, while North Florida swept the series and now stands at 14-8 on the season.
Henry went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a triple and a double, and drove in a pair of runs with one run scored. Rookie Reid Anderson (Aledo, Texas) allowed five earned runs over four innings in the loss, while Evan Incinelli picked up the win for the Ospreys after giving up just one run in six innings.
After a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, North Florida scored three runs in each of the next two frames and added another run in the fifth for the advantage, 7-0. Brown broke through in the top of the sixth when Dan Kerr (Westfield, N.J.) hit an RBI single to right, but the Ospreys responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to stretch the lead to 11-1.
The Bears struck back with three runs in the top of the seventh, as Jake Levine (Newton, Mass.) hit an RBI single before Henry drove in a pair with a triple to left center, but the Ospreys came back with five runs in the eighth. Brown added two runs in the ninth on a pair of singles by Shulman and Will Marcal (Lexington, Mass.), but could not stage the comeback as the Ospreys secured the victory.
Brown returns to action on Tuesday, March 17 when they visit URI at 3:30 p.m.
