Suspect arrested in New Bedford stabbing

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Officials in New Bedford have arrested one man in connection with a stabbing at a local restaurant on March 7, police confirmed.

Officers arrested Michael Cubero, age 34, of State Street. They say he stabbed another man at Tilia’s Cafe on Acushnet Avenue. Police say he was charged with armed assault with intent to commit murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police say the victim was stabbed after a fight broke out. The victim has not been identified.

The victim was treated at Rhode Island Hospital and was later released, police confirmed.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant and are searching for a second suspect.
