PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- Rhode Island residents who fish for fun will not be able to keep as many stripers.
The Department of Environmental Management has established a new catch limit on the popular game fish. Recreational fisherman will only be allowed to keep one striped bass per day, instead of two.
The fish has to be at least 28 inches long or else it has be to released.
The catch limit was made to address the declining number of striped bass in local waters. Officials hope the new limit will allow the population to replenish.
