North Smithfield K9 awarded protective vest

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) – A North Smithfield Police Department’s K9 has been awarded a bullet and stab proof vest.

Joery is certified in patrol work including tracking criminal apprehension, evidence recovery, and explosives and ballistic detection. Joery’s handler is Officer Jay Rainville and the pair have been working together since November 2013.

Nonprofit organization, Interest in K9s, Inc., donated the ballistic vest, in collaboration with the Pasley family from Rhode Island. The Pasley’s donated $950 in hopes a local K9 would be awarded a vest. Joery’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “Protection by the Pasley’s, family and friends.”
