NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The state Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating after skeletal remains were discovered in a heavily wooded area in North Kingstown on Thursday.
North Kingstown police confirm the remains are human and were found in the area of Boston Neck Road near Route 138.
Police say a local man was looking for deer antlers when he came across the remains. Police say the remains do not appear suspicious at this time.
Officials are looking into the possibility they may be linked to a 2008 missing person case. However, police are not releasing the name of the person.
The remains are now in the custody of the state Medical Examiner and necessary tests will be performed.
