PPAC new season announced; includes Sound of Music, If/Then, Annie

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Tuesday was a big day for theatre lovers in Rhode Island. The Providence Performing Arts Center announced some exciting news about the upcoming 2015/2016 season.

“For our 38th Season, we hope that you will “surround yourself with Broadway sounds,” and experience all of the beautiful music that will fill our theatre, starting in the fall,” said PPAC President J.L. “Lynn” Singleton.

The Broadway Series will open in October 2015 with Disney’s Newsies, followed by the national tour opening for Cabaret. The series also includes a revival of Pippin, an all new production of The Sound of Music, Motown The Musical, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and If/Then.

PPAC also announced its Encore Series, which includes Annie, Ragtime, The Musical, and the Providence premiere of Bullets Over Broadway.

The Book of Mormon and Jersey Boys will also return to Rhode Island as Broadway Specials.

“Each season, PPAC strives to bring the Best of Broadway to the Theatre so Rhode Islanders can experience the wonder of Broadway, right here at home!” said PPAC Director Cindy Laughlin
