BOSTON (AP) — The Coast Guard says the body of a fisherman who apparently fell overboard about 35 miles southeast of Nantucket has been recovered.
The 54-year-old man’s body was found at about 1 a.m. Monday.
The crew of the fishing vessel Hear No Evil, out of New Bedford, recovered the body and positively identified the missing crewman.
The man, who was not wearing a life jacket, was reported missing at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The Coast Guard did not release his name.
“It’s tough for everyone, especially for the family of the mariner,” said U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Jarrod Pomajzl. “There were challenging conditions, we had small craft advisories in that area last night.”
Once recovered, the body was transferred to a Coast Guard cutter and taken ashore.
