Former Bristol cop charged with breaking into home, stealing pills

BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — A former Bristol police officer is charged with breaking into his neighbor’s home and stealing prescription medication.

Spencer Parks was recognized by police when a Warren couple brought in surveillance video of a suspect breaking into their home on Market Street, according to court documents obtained by Eyewitness News.

Parks, 27, turned himself in on March 28, one day after the alleged crime.

Police said he’s accused of stealing 16 grams of a medication that helps people suffering from opioid dependence. He was charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny under $1,500.

Bristol Police Chief Josue Canario said Parks was no longer an active member of the department as of August, but could not say why, and confirmed that Parks officially resigned from the department following his arrest.

The case remains under investigation.
